SNOW DAY

So, I'm declaring today a snow day. Not just because it is snowing, at the end of March, but because it is a sunless snow, a wet snow, a cold snow. I'm drinking my hot choc and had some frosted mini wheats. Sydney didn't go to school today. It was a snow day. She is in bed sleeping. I haven't let her do this for quite a while, though she asks every day and has ever since she entered kindergarten. "Can't I just stay home today??!!"

UPDATE:

I'm going to pick up Rudy at animal control today! Someone turned him in and I'm sure he has made friends with all of the dogs and is having a grand ol' time, but he is coming home!! I'm so so glad he is there. Hopefully Brett will now see the wisdom of the tried and true shock collar which works so well! (ok Brett. I won't say anything more about it:)

Oh, some have been asking about Syd and if she made it home as well. She actually made it to the bottom of the circle before turning around and coming home. I was there at the door with a 'welcome back' and a hug. I told her that she still had to go to her room for disobeying (which was the punishment that drove her to the streets in the first place) but that I'd go in with her. That was a total trick, because we went through every single thing/piece of clothing in that room and cleaned it, organized it, etc. She was wiped out. I was happy.

I'm reading a great book called Sarah's Key, about the spring of 1942 and the roundup of nearly 13,000 Jews in France by the french police at the Velodrome d'hiver. It is quite disturbing, but another insight into the holocaust from the french point of view. Very sad. Hunger Games was also really good-totally different. I say I don't like science fiction. It's not because I've read it and don't like it; I just don't think I'll like it, so I don't read it. Lord of the Rings should be called Bored of the Rings. wow. that's funny. Anyway, Hunger Games I loved. It was an easy read, maybe a 2 dayer. Takes place in the future, after the earth's complete collapse and rebuild. Of course. Nothing screams sci fi like a story set after the earth's ruin.

I'm playing for 4 teenage boys trying out for choir at the high school today. It's kind of funny to me that they want me to play, know I will, and then don't even pick a stinkin song until the night before at my house, maybe 9-10pm the night before. For my son, Ben, we went through, I don't know- 15 songs and nothing seemed right. His mom is out of town so more weight is on me to help choose. ugh. My son Stephen sounded great. He's only trying out to make his mom, Si, happy. Spencer, of course, sounded SO GOOD!! ok. JK! I know that sounded obnoxious. They also don't tell me when their actual audition time is so that it's anybody's guess if I can make it or not. "I do have a life!" I tell them, but they really know I'll drop things to play for them.

More tryouts for the school musical for my daughter and her friends in two days. We'll go through the same thing tomorrow night for them. Spencer and Maddie trying out for officer, Ali for cheerleader. All in the same week. I'm trying out for the most tired pregnant woman. I hope I make it!!!! I think I really have a chance this year!!!!!

"My son Stephen" ??? Does Spence know he has a brother?

I love your blog and it makes me smile every time I see a new post from you. You, Miss "I hate blogs and will never have one myself." Whatever. :) It's a great outlet, huh?

Hawnspo! (That's the security word I had to enter....)

Yes, my son Stephen and my son Ben, etc. When you have a teenage boy, you end up having a lot of sons. They feel like sons. Thanks Miss Hawnspo.
