Paper Hug

My neice made this when my sister went to San Francisco this past weekend. She tucked it in her mom's suitcase so that she could have a hug if she missed her daughter. I don't know why, but this simple image touched me a lot. It's these little things that make me believe in the beauty of the human spirit, overriding all of the uncertainties and stresses of the current world. (Note to Paige: I need one of these to tape by my bed so I can look at it every day. Can you make Aunt Erin one?)

She'll make you one. We're giving this one to Papa & Nana when we see them this weekend. Fitting there, too, huh? :)

That's yummy. I told my kids about how Spencer wrote his mom a song for NO REASON and SANG IT TO HER with his ukelele. I told them he must love his mother and then gave them the "I wish MY kids loved ME enough to write songs for me for no reason and sing them to me" face. All Tanner had to say was, "That was my ukelele." Cold.
Now maybe I'll whine about how Misty's kids love her because they sent her a portable hug in her suitcase, and then I'll flash the face again. That will make them love me and do random, thoughful things for me, even sans Mother's Day -- I just KNOW it!
Erin! You HAVE TO make Spency record that song so you can post it on here! I will not rest until that happens!

Verification word: mandstro

Is that what happens to my husband once a month? (As in "mandstro...ation?)
