I will post a pic later in the day of either:
a)Ali beaming after she gets her cheerleader acceptance letter OR
b) Ali bawling uncontrollably after reading her cheerleader "I'm sorry" letter.
I want to take this stress away from her. I could get up there and do it for her. I wouldn't look weird or anything being pregnant and just a little older looking than these girls. I tried to help her with some dance tips last night and as I'm lifting a leg and trying to swing it around to show her this great tip, we both started laughing. It was so awkward. Well, I am so awkward now. It just ain't right. The sad thing is, I know what I am saying is right. I used to be quite the little dancing queen (cue Abba music as background) back in high school. (I have to say that I didn't do cheerleading. I was all about serious dance and not having to watch any sports games, which cheerleading would have entailed.) College...dancing still quite a bit. I even majored in dance for about a year and was on a modern dance team at BYU.
What happened? When does it become "not really acceptable" to even move anymore-especially by your kids. "Oh mom. Stop. Seriously." ..as if it is SO uncomfortable for them to even watch me snap my fingers or bob my head. And believe me, there is still a whole lot of snappin and bobbin going on. I took her to get a little coaching from a pro(Kristi Farr). She came back in the car and the pro had told her the things I had already also told her. So yea! Lots of kudos for me.
Oh well. Those days are gone. I still take dance classes time and again and probably even will again after I have Baby Kate. It feels really good to move my body. Really makes me feel alive. I know I turned the attention from poor, stressed out Ali, to me, but since this blog is about MY random musings, I figure I have the right.
Funny flashback moment. When we were little, I used to dance around the room and make my younger sister, Misty, who was way taller and stronger than me, be the boy and catch me as I would leap in the air towards her. I know, I can't believe I did this, but we did it all of the time. I would do my dance and fling my leg at her which meant--catch it and just hold it, while I bend backwards and pose.
Quinn and I also had this little trick where I would run and jump into his arms and he would literally fling me upside down around his back and catch me on the other side. We did this trick in high school during the musical "West Side Story". He played the leader of the Jets and I played the tomboy little girl Anybodies who always was hanging around trying to get in the gang. During the big dance scene where the Sharks and the Jets meet up, I did my little fling around the back trick with Quinn and then pirouetted and leapt off the stage; he in his leather jacket and slicked back hair, me in my converse, baseball shirt and pony. Way cool!
Ironically, Maddie also finds out today whether she made her high school musical....drum roll....West Side Story! I'll post a pic about that only if it's positive.

A huge week for the Blakes! So sorry about Spence (we really thought it was an April Fool's joke) and good luck Ali and Maddie!!! And you didn't just do that leg thing with me when you were "younger." You were married with 3 children the last time you did it, in your friends house while she looked on in strange fascination. Remember?? :)
Misty- it was a "flashback moment", not a current one. No one needs to know that. I did say there was still a lot of snappin and bobbin going on..From that, one could infer some leg liftin too.
seriously a LAUGH OUT LOUD with that visual.
